A touching interaction between a young Taylor Swift fan and her neighbor has unexpectedly turned into a viral internet moment. What began as a shy song request snowballed into something much bigger after the video made its way across TikTok.

As per PEOPLE’s exclusive report, the moment began when 8-year-old Madeline from Ohio heard her neighbor playing guitar outside his home. The young fan, who loves Taylor Swift’s music, wanted to request one of the pop star’s songs.
However, she felt too shy to approach him directly. So, with help from her mother, she tossed a paper airplane over the fence carrying a handwritten note asking if he could play “Love Story.”
The neighbor, musician Ethan Hayes, did not notice the paper airplane at first until Madeline’s stepfather called out to him from the kitchen window. Once he found the note, Hayes decided to honor the request despite not remembering every lyric perfectly. He later performed the song from his porch, creating a sweet moment that Madeline’s mother captured on video.
After the clip was uploaded to TikTok, it quickly gained traction online. The video has pulled in over 3 million views, with social media users praising the wholesome interaction between the neighbors. What’s more, Hayes is said to have gained thousands of followers after the viral moment.
However, the biggest surprise came later. According to Hayes, Taylor Swift’s team contacted him through TikTok after the “Opalite” singer saw the viral video. He claimed they told him not to share anything until a package arrived.
While he initially expected a signed poster or smaller keepsake, Hayes said the gifts turned out to be signed guitars and handwritten notes from Swift herself.
Meanwhile, Madeline received her own signed guitar and personal letter, making the moment even more emotional for the family. When PEOPLE asked what she would say to Swift, the young fan simply responded, “Thank you.”
