Following years of opposing women getting plastic surgery, guess what Rosie O’Donnell’s gone and done?
Recently, the former talk show host opened up about her decision to undergo a facelift at 64. The experience was a complete turnaround of her long-held beliefs regarding aging and feminism.
But after sharing side-by-side images of her face before and after the procedure, Rosie is being mocked online. While some are trolling her for the outcome of her surgery, others are criticizing her past anti-facelift stance.
Rosie O’Donnell’s fans were split over the results
In a long personal essay published on Substack, the View alum reflected on her mixed emotions about the procedure. She admitted that she feeling uneasy about having had the surgery. She described the experience as “almost shameful,” due to both the financial and emotional cost.
For years, Rose had believed cosmetic surgery to be a “betrayal” of feminist values. But all of that changed after she lost 50 pounds and noticed the changes to her skin.
Though she tried to brush off her appearance as natural aging, she came to a place where acceptance of herself felt forced. “There’s a point where acceptance starts to feel like lying,” she wrote.
Furthermore, the reaction on social media has been brutal, only getting worse after the rumored contestant on Dancing with the Stars shared the before-and-after images.
“I’d be suing whoever claimed to have done that work,” wrote a follower on X (formerly Twitter). “All I can detect are the tell-tale signs of Ozempic, with the emaciated buccal fat.”
“They still haven’t learned a lesson from getting facelifts. It only makes them look worse,” another commented.
“It’s a shame it didn’t work,” wrote another.
Another follower added, “I don’t see much of an improvement to be honest,” while an even harsher critic wrote, “She should demand a refund bc it didn’t work.”
However, some fans commended the comedian’s honesty, as well as her new look. “She looks great, good for her actually,” a supporter wrote on X.
