The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives world is expanding. The popular Hulu series, based on a group of Mormon (and Mormon adjacent) influencers, paused filming during Season 5. The legal issues between Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, caused the show to take a break. Now, SLOMW executive producer Jeff Jenkins is revealing that more spinoffs are on the way.
The hit reality series could expand into a full franchise universe with multiple new shows in development
Rumors of a SLOMW spinoff were circulating for a while before The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County was announced. This series will feature a new group of influencers and social media stars. The release, describing the show, read, “While some defend their way of life, fighting against modernity, others embrace change, becoming a platform to disrupt the status quo.”
Well, if you enjoy watching the antics of these influencers, you are in luck. Recently, Jeff told Variety, “I would say [there are] three more potential spinoffs in the pipeline right behind this one. It’s a really rich community when you have the luxury of looking all across the country.”
He continued, “Right now, we’re sticking with the Mormon faith. I suspect that every producer in town is out there pitching Lives of Catholic Wives, Lives of Jewish Wives, Lives of Islamic Wives.” Jeff added that the Mormon Wives franchise is “not just throwing plot at you.”
Meanwhile, Jeff wanted to “present a world of LDS” that lived “at least a 90-degree pivot away” from SLOMW. “When you’re in Utah, that’s a very specific type of culture,” the executive producer explained. “LDS in Southern California is a little more relaxed, a little less intense, a little more forgiving.”
As for whether Taylor will return to SLOMW? “I’ve talked to Taylor, and she wants to come back, and I want her to come back,” Jeff said. “So I’m really hopeful that that’s going to happen.”
