White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has recently extended her support for Donald Trump‘s The White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD). The event has now been rescheduled for July after a shooting cancelled the annual event in April. In her post on X (formerly Twitter), Leavitt mentioned she is “Looking forward to a great night!.”
Karoline Leavitt says she’s ‘looking forward to a great night’ about Trump rescheduling WHCD
The WHCD has been rescheduled after the original event on April 25 at the Washington Hilton was suspended after a shooting incident. The dinner will now be held on July 24 at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Washington. The news has left White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is on maternity leave, ecstatic as she offered 6-Word Support to Donald Trump over the new dinner date.
Leavitt mentioned “Looking forward to a great night!,” on her X post, along with a message from the President, which confirmed that he will attend the rescheduled event. “In a sign of Strength and Fortitude, it was just announced that The White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which violently ended rather abruptly on April 25th, will be rescheduled to July 24th,” wrote Trump on Truth Social. The “announcement is a very good thing in that we cannot allow Lunatics to change our way of life, or even its scheduling,” he added.
The President further stated that he was “asked to be there, and speak, by Weijia Jiang, President of The White House Correspondents’ Association, and have accepted.” Sharing more about the venue, Trump mentioned that the dinner will happen in the location, “The Waldorf Astoria, on Pennsylvania Avenue, a Building and Ballroom” that he built.
Even Jiang mentioned in her post that their “first dinner” after three months of the gunfire incident “is part of history, as will be the WHCA’s response.” She further mentioned that they will “not allow an act of violence to have the last word,” especially during the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence.
