Jill Biden is facing a backlash after identifying herself as a doctor during an episode of The View. The statement came after Sara Haines asked about Joe Biden, and the former first lady responded, “The doctors told me he was fine. I’m not a doctor. I mean, I am a doctor.”
Jill Biden actually holds a doctoral degree in education and is not an MD
Her comment quickly sparked online backlash, with critics questioning her use of the title and sharing sarcastic comments. A user wrote on X, “LOL. She was right the first time, she is NOT a doctor!” Another commented, “These are her most defining features. She has absolutely no shame and no conscience.”
On the other hand, one of many clarified by writing, “She’s NOT a medical doctor. She has a doctorate. Huge difference.”
The former POTUS was diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer in May 2025. After being diagnosed, he shared an uplifting post on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the support. He wrote, while sharing a photo of himself and his wife, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
In an interview with CBS News Sunday Morning on May 31, she said, “I can remember getting the diagnosis, and it was just, it was shocking,” adding, “Well, you know, the doctor said that according to the American Urological Association, that men over 70 don’t need a PSA, a blood test, anymore because it’s a slow-growing cancer. I do feel we had amazing care in the White House, but somehow that was missed.” During a June 1 interview on NBC’s Today to promote her new memoir, View from the East Wing, the former first lady said, “I think Joe will live with cancer until the rest of his life.”
