We won’t be seeing Kathy Hilton at a big pride event this weekend after all. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was originally slated to be a part of the WeHo event on Sunday, June 7, in West Hollywood as a Grand Marshal.
Organizers and the Hilton had a change of heart on Wednesday. Apparently, Kathy’s scheduled visit drew plenty of backlash from people in the area, according to city officials. Some of her alleged controversial past actions may have also played a part.
Kathy Hilton’s alleged Donald Trump and MAGA ties saw her cut from WeHo Pride
The WeHo Pride event didn’t want to be associated with Kathy. While some of that appears to stem from public outrage, there seems to be another side to this story. Her alleged ties with President Donald Trump, along with some potentially problematic words, also seemed to influence this decision.
Kathy was accused of uttering a gay slur during a trip to Aspen, Colorado, with RHOBH cast members. Kathy denied this claim, though cast member Erika Jayne says it is true. According to Erika, Kathy was having a frustrated meltdown when the slur reportedly came out.
The city of West Hollywood released a statement following the news. They say that they have “always believed that Pride belongs to the community.” Meanwhile, officials have said residents provided “thoughtful feedback” on the event.
For her part, Kathy seemed to take it all in stride, saying she was “honored to have been considered for this recognition and appreciative of the support.” She says that her motivation for taking part was simply to celebrate and support the community’s joy for the event.
In addition to the backlash she’s gotten for her alleged slur, Kathy is locked in a legal battle. She is being sued by Kimberly Heffington, who claims she suffered significant injuries during a charity fundraiser estate sale. She’s seeking a payout of $55,000.
