The former RHOBH star is giving more details on her split from ex-husband Eddie Cibrian
Brandi shared the details about recovering the money in a recent episode of her podcast Unfiltered. The podcast’s official Instagram page shared a reel of the conversation on Wednesday, June 3.
“My ex-husband, I had to hire a lawyer to get my own 401K from him. He was trying to keep it,” she claimed. “It cost me over $10,000.”
She explained that she had a qualified domestic relations order. QDRO is a specialized legal document that specifies “how retirement assets will be apportioned between the divorcing parties.”
“I was talking to my lawyer. He’s like, ‘Well, you have a 401K. Eddie didn’t want to give it to me, so [my lawyer’s] like, ‘Get a lawyer,'” she shared.
Brandi claimed that she was able to recover her 401K after hiring representation, noting that the process took a year. She also advised other Housewives going through a divorce to be smart when it comes to finances.
“They’re all getting divorced, and half of them don’t even have a 401K. Get your sh*t together, ladies,” she said. “Know where the money is. All the girls on [Real Housewives of Rhode Island] don’t know where their f*cking money is.”
“I don’t want that for anyone,” she added.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is now streaming on Peacock.
