Keep Denise Richards in your thoughts because the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is going through it right now. On top of her nasty and financially draining divorce from Aaron Phypers, she’s mourning the loss of her ex, Patrick Muldoon. It’s a lot of stress, it’s a lot of heartache, and an insider close to the star says she isn’t handling any of it well.
The reality TV star “simply can’t move past” Patrick Muldoon’s death

Patrick, famous for his roles on shows like Melrose Place and Days of Our Lives, passed away in April after suffering from a heart attack. His girlfriend found him unconscious on the bathroom floor.
Before his death, he and Denise maintained a nearly 40-year friendship. They sparked a connection on the set of Starship Troopers and dated on and off for several years. Most recently, the two appeared in a film together called Dirty Hands. Denise has said she’s so devastated by the loss that she can hardly bring herself to watch it.
It’s been almost a month since Patrick’s passing, and insiders close to the actress told Radar Online that she’s still very much grief-stricken. The combination of losing a longtime friend and navigating a messy divorce has become incredibly draining.
“Denise is an extremely tough cookie, but she’s been through so much recently,” the source said. “Patrick’s passing really tipped her over the edge. She’s been in floods of tears on a daily basis. There are so many things she wanted to say to him, and the fact he’s gone is something she simply can’t move past.”
Meanwhile, she’s slowly approaching the first anniversary of her divorce from Aaron. He filed for divorce back on July 7, 2025, following an explosive fight on the Fourth of July. She has publicly accused him of domestic violence, and he was arrested over the claims. However, with no end in sight for finalizing the divorce, the stress continues to pile up.
“The divorce from Aaron has cost Denise an absolute fortune and sapped her time and energy,” a source explained. “She’s also still recovering from her major procedure. That may sound trivial to some, but it’s a big deal for Denise. She’s had to navigate a long and painful road.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is streaming on Peacock.
