Donald Trump Says He Want to ‘Keep’ This Medal for Himself

President Donald Trump has joked that he is “not giving back” Jordan Stolz’s Olympic gold medal to him. In a recent meeting with the star speed skater, Trump quipped that he wants to keep the award after Stolz presented it to him.

Donald Trump met with Olympic speed skater Jordan Stolz at a roundtable on American agriculture in Wisconsin on Friday. During the event, the athlete presented the president with his Olympic gold medal, draping the medal around his neck. Stolz has won two gold medals and one silver medal at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Admiring the medal, Trump joked that he is reluctant to hand it back to Stolz. “I’m keeping it,” the president quipped. He added, “I’m keeping it, Jordan. I’m not giving it back,” as the remark drew laughter from Stolz and the crowd. “I’m a very good guy for keeping gold,” the president joked. “I like gold. I’m gonna, I’m never giving this back.”

This is not the first time that Trump has been presented with an award by the recipient. In January, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado shared her Nobel Peace Prize with the POTUS as a symbolic gesture in honor of his support for Venezuela’s democratic movement.

Trump appreciated the gesture in a Truth Social post, calling it a “Great Honor” to meet Machado. He further penned, “María presented me with her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you María!”

However, the Nobel Committee soon made a statement clarifying that a Nobel Prize, once announced, cannot be shared with others. The statement reads, “A laureate cannot share the prize with others, nor transfer it once it has been announced. A Nobel Peace Prize can also never be revoked. The decision is final and applies for all time.”

Meanwhile, Trump has previously claimed that he deserves a Nobel Prize. In 2025, during a White House meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said, “They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. It’s too bad. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me” (via USA Today).
