NASCAR legend Kurt Busch expressed his feelings publicly for the first time since the sudden passing of his younger brother, Kyle Busch. On June 8, he took it to Instagram and thanked everyone for their “wishes, support, and love.”

Kyle, who rose to become a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and was competing in his 22nd full-time NASCAR season, passed away on May 21. He was battling bacterial pneumonia for “days to weeks” before his death, reports TODAY. He was taken to a hospital in Charlotte, where he later passed away. He was 41.
Dakota Hunter, vice-president of Kyle Busch Companies, said in a news release, as reported by The Guardian, “The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications.”
Speaking about Kyle, who is survived by his wife, Samantha, and their children, Brexton and Lennix, Kurt wrote on Instagram, “Finding a silver lining, I reflect on the days Kyle and I raced anything we could get our hands on. From big wheels to competing on the biggest stages in motorsports, we were more than just fierce competitors. We pushed each other, challenged each other, and learned from each other.”
He then expressed how Kyle’s passion, determination, and love for his family had inspired everyone who knew him. He added that no trophy, championship, or accomplishment could ever measure the impact Kyle had had on his life and on so many others, writing, “I will forever be grateful for the memories we made, the lessons you taught me, and the brotherhood we shared.” The brothers often competed against one another in the NASCAR Cup Series and won more than 97 races and three championships, reports Yahoo Sports.
