Scooby-Doo First Look From Netflix’s Live-Action Sparks Fan Debate

On June 8, Netflix shared the first look at the famous canine Scooby-Doo from the live-action adaptation of the iconic cartoon series. Fans are divided over the eponymous dog’s appearance, with many arguing that the little dog does not look anything like the one from the original cartoon show.

Fans react to Scooby-Doo’s first look from Netflix series

Netflix‘s Scooby-Doo: Origins is bringing the eponymous floppy-eared canine to life for the first time in over fifty years. In recent decades, the franchise has spawned numerous animated series, three theatrical films, and almost forty animated home entertainment titles. This marks the first time fans will get to see a real puppy in action as the iconic character, but not everyone is happy with the choice of the dog.

X user @I_am_Vedvrat wrote, “Wasn’t Scooby-Doo supposed to be a great dane?” Another fan, @he2xrated, said, “That’s Scrappy Doo that’s not my scooby doo.” Meanwhile, @SololaOladipo wrote, “That’s just some random brown puppy with a collar. Where’s the massive, lovable Great Dane energy? Scooby is supposed to be a giant, goofy, cowardly icon, not a tiny shelter dog that looks stressed out of its mind.”

In the cartoon series, the dog is a Great Dane with a teal green collar. In the new photo, a cute little brown puppy sat with a collar around its neck in the same shade. That, however, has not convinced fans about the accuracy of the casting. On the other hand, some have supported the new puppy’s casting.

@DeadmanBostonB wrote, “Everyone is so mad over an adorable puppy.” Meanwhile, @bearded_blerdd1 joked that people were reacting negatively because they had not seen a Great Dane puppy before.” I guess people never seen what a Great Dane/its puppies look like lol,” they wrote. User @BarefootElleck pointed out that people seemed to have forgotten what Scooby-Doo looked like as a puppy. They commented, “No one remembers Scooby had floppy ears as a puppy????”
