Jennifer Lopez had another proud-parent milestone this week, and this one came with a few tears. The superstar was spotted getting emotional as she celebrated son Max’s high school graduation, marking the latest major chapter for the twins she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
For a mom who has spent the past year talking about how quickly her children are growing up, the moment appeared to hit exactly where you’d expect, right in the heart.
Jennifer Lopez celebrates son Max’s graduation milestone
Photos obtained by Page Six showed Lopez wiping away tears during Max’s graduation ceremony on Friday. Dressed in a floral dress and cardigan, the singer and actress looked every bit the proud mother as she celebrated the 18-year-old’s achievement.
The touching family event brought together several of Lopez’s closest loved ones, including her parents, Guadalupe Rodríguez and David Lopez, longtime manager Benny Medina, and Max’s twin sibling, Emme. After the ceremony, Lopez was photographed embracing Max, who kept things casual in a tie-dye shirt and tan pants for the occasion.
The graduation comes just weeks after another milestone for the family. Last month, Lopez attended Emme’s graduation ceremony alongside Max and her former stepson Samuel Affleck, the son of ex-husband Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Despite Lopez and Affleck ending their marriage in 2024, the blended family has reportedly remained close.
If Lopez seemed emotional, fans shouldn’t be surprised. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! ahead of Emme’s graduation, the “Office Romance” star admitted she had been “crying for two months” as her children prepared for the next phase of their lives.
Now, with college on the horizon, Lopez says her biggest wish is simply for Max and Emme to find happiness and follow their own paths.
Speaking recently on “Watch What Happens Live”, Lopez explained that parenting isn’t about constant lectures but about setting an example. “They do what they see you do,” she said, adding that her children aren’t interested in becoming copies of their famous mother. Instead, they’re creating lives of their own.
