Sydney Sweeney doesn’t see eye to eye with Cassie on every decision in Euphoria Season 3. The latest outing sees her character becoming an OnlyFans model. Sweeney explained that while she understands Cassie’s motivations, she personally would handle situations very differently.
Sydney Sweeney talks about Cassie’s storyline in Euphoria Season 3
Sydney Sweeney has opened up about Cassie’s emotional journey in Euphoria Season 3, reflecting on the character’s choices that shape her next chapter. The Housemaid actress discussed her initial talks with creator Sam Levinson regarding Cassie’s storyline in the latest season.
Cassie faces hardship after financial issues affect her husband, Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi. Hence, with support from her former close friend Maddy (Alexa Demie), she builds an OnlyFans empire.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Sweeney explained that Cassie’s life changes appeared in the initial Season 3 scripts. She also said she understood why Levinson chose that path for the character.
“I told him, ‘Look, I’m playing a character.’ Do I agree with all of Cassie’s decisions? Would I personally make these choices? No, of course not,” Sweeney explained. “But I’m an actor and that’s my job and this is Cassie’s life and to be able to do her justice and play her how she’s to be played is to bring Sam’s vision to life and to play Cassie in the most vulnerable and insane way possible.”
Speaking on the storyline’s nudity, the SYRN founder said she talked it through with Levinson and committed fully to playing Cassie truthfully.
Sweeney further noted that the storyline revealed how deeply Cassie craved acceptance and love. She explained that the people-pleasing character “has a need to be validated by other people.” The Immaculate actress said that Cassie struggles to value herself without external affection, so she understood Levinson’s direction for her in Season 3.
Sydney Sweeney also noted that there were a few scenes she wished had stayed in the final version. She told Vanity Fair that Levinson told her a deleted scenes or BTS release wasn’t off the table.
