Stranger Things Star Millie Bobby Brown Talks Possibly Carrying a Child After Adoption

Millie Bobby Brown is opening up about motherhood and the family dreams she’s been carrying since childhood. The “Stranger Things” star recently opened up about her journey to becoming a parent, revealing that adoption had always been part of her plan long before she found fame.

Now happily married to Jake Bongiovi, the actress says welcoming their adopted daughter in 2025 fulfilled a lifelong goal, though she still hopes to expand her family in the future.

Speaking on Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, Millie shared that adoption was something she imagined for herself from a very young age.

“One Hundred per cent. Always, always wanted to adopt,” she explained, recalling how even her childhood dolls had adoption stories attached to them. Unlike many kids, she never pretended to be pregnant while playing house.

That doesn’t mean she’s ruling out having biological children, however. “Hopefully one day that’s in my future,” Millie said, clarifying that she would still like to carry a child herself someday.

For the “Enola Holmes” actress, adoption wasn’t a spontaneous decision. Before fully committing to acting, Millie studied social work and became fascinated by the adoption process, birth mothers’ experiences, and the impact adoption can have on families. She said those lessons helped shape the thoughtful approach that she and Jake took before welcoming their daughter.

The couple announced the adoption in August 2025, sharing their excitement while also making it clear they planned to keep their daughter’s identity private. So far, they have not publicly revealed her name or shown her face online.

While motherhood has brought joy, Millie admitted it has also introduced her to an unexpected challenge: criticism from other parents. The actress revealed she was surprised by some of the judgment she received after becoming a mother, calling parts of the experience “vicious.”

Still, she remains focused on the bigger picture. During her first Mother’s Day celebration earlier this year, Millie emphasized that all maternal figures deserve recognition, whether they are adoptive mothers, birth mothers, or caregivers in other forms.
