Simon Cowell’s boyband, December 10, is in the hot seat again. A member has now taken a step back from the group following misogyny allegations and online controversy. Danny Bretherton issued an apology following accusations against him that sparked an online petition for his removal from the band.

December 10 is Simon’s newest boy band venture. The group was put together by the music mogul on the Netflix show The Next Act. They were created to hopefully become the next big boy band and follow in the footsteps of One Direction. They’ve had a bit of a bumpy beginning, though.
Members of the group include Danny, Josh Olliver, Cruz Lee-Ojo, Hendrik Christofferson, John Fadare, Nicolas Alves, and Seán Hayden.
Recently, Danny became embroiled in controversy. Several social media users have accused him of being a “misogynist.” Some users have alleged that he “love bombed” them, was unfaithful, and treated them disrespectfully. Others claimed Danny had bullied them in school.
Following the allegations, Danny took to social media to issue an apology. In his statement, he said, “Looking back at some of my actions, I understand why this has caused upset and hurt, and for that, I am truly sorry. I didn’t think enough about how my behaviour might affect other people.”
He said he would take some time to work on himself and seek professional support.
According to The Sun, the band confirmed Danny’s time off and showed their support.
“Danny is taking some time out at the moment, and we’re respecting that,” they shared in their IG story. “One thing we’ve always spoken about as a band is the importance of looking after your mental health and getting support when you need it. Right now, that’s what Danny is focusing on.”
December 10 kicks off the European leg of their tour in Amsterdam. It is unclear if Danny will be returning to the group for the rest of their tour.
