Melania Trump Objected to White House Overnight Stay for Famous Guest — Report

Donald Trump and Melania Trump were reportedly involved in a disagreement over a White House guest, according to claims in the book, Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump.

The alleged dispute over Elon Musk’s overnight stay has highlighted differing views within the Trump household regarding high-profile visitors.

Reports say that Melania Trump objected to Elon Musk staying overnight at the White House

According to RadarOnline, the report claimed a heated discussion took place about whether Elon Musk, who reportedly asked Trump if he could stay overnight at the presidential residence.

While Musk, 54, reportedly received approval from the president, the book claims Melania Trump objected to the idea but was ultimately overruled, leading to the Tesla founder staying in the Lincoln Bedroom.

The alleged detail was mentioned in the book, Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan. The book covers the first year of Trump’s second presidency, one of the most popular books of 2026.

Musk was seen bragging about his regular sleepovers at the White House earlier this year. He said, “Sometimes I stay at the White House. The president’s- very, very— I guess we’re good friends. We’ll be on Air Force One or Marine One, and then he’s like, ‘Hey, do you want to stay over?’ and I’m like, ‘Sure, I didn’t request it, to be sure,” reports The Hill.

To a bunch of reporters asking where he sleeps, Musk, who led the DOGE task force, said, “The Lincoln Bedroom.”

The Lincoln Bedroom serves as a ceremonial guest room for distinguished visitors and the president’s guests staying overnight. Neither Trump, Melania Trump, nor Musk has publicly responded to the disagreement mentioned in the book.
