The Sussexes appear closer to their original goal of availing royal benefits while maintaining an independent life. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 to live an independent life in the US. However, their relationship with the royal family members has been strained since then. But now, with their visit to the UK next month, a source says that they may be getting closer to their goal.
Some insiders believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle now have much of what they sought
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties a few years after their wedding. However, while leaving, the duke proposed a hybrid role that would allow them to be both royal and private. However, at the time, Queen Elizabeth reportedly denied such provision, refusing to treat monarchy like a “part-time job.”
Now, sources say things seem to be in favor of the Sussexes, and they may have much of what they sought. Harry and Markle may now secure royal protection, status, access, and family support, while continuing to live their independent life in California. “This is essentially the arrangement Harry and Meghan proposed years ago,” a palace source told Naughty But Nice. “The difference is that Queen Elizabeth said no.”
King Charles reportedly seems to have quietly cleared the way for his younger son to enable his family’s visits to the UK. This has ensured that they remain in touch with the royal family and stay within the royal orbit. The insider added that although the Sussexes are “not working royals,” they are “receiving many of the benefits that come with being working royals.”
The Sussexes might return to the UK with their kids, Archie and Lilibet, for the Invictus Games countdown party. Their visit comes after years of solo trips, with the children last visiting the country in 2022.
