Donald Trump Offers Help to Venezuela After Two Earthquakes

Donald Trump on Truth Social has announced support for Venezuela in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. The president said that authorities are preparing to provide assistance with rescue and recovery efforts.

Donald Trump says US will help Venezuela amid earthquake reports

In a recent Truth Social post, Donald Trump announced that he will deploy U.S resources to aid Venezuela following the recent devastating earthquake that has terrorized the nation. Massive consecutive tremors of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 rocked the country’s northern coast, striking down buildings in the capital city of Caracas. The widespread destruction prompted authorities to declare a state of emergency.

“The U.S.A. stands ready, willing, and able to help!,” Trump declared in the post. The POTUS added, “I have instructed all agencies of our government to get ready to move quickly. We will be there for our new and great friends. Early reports are not good!”

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau also made a statement pledging support for Venezuela. “The US stands with the Venezuelan people in the aftermath of this evening’s devastating earthquakes,” Landau stated. He further announced that the U.S is “in touch with the authorities and mobilizing assistance.”

Acting Under Secretary Jeremy Lewin further announced that the State Department “has already mobilized a disaster assistance team and task force to deliver and coordinate critical assistance to the Venezuelan people.” Working together with the Venezuelan government, “the U.S. will be sending search and rescue teams, medical and humanitarian supplies, and other resources.”

In the wake of the tragedy, Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, declared a state of emergency in a national address on Wednesday night. According to multiple reports, 32 people were killed, and 700 were injured.

The recent tremors were among the most violent to hit Venezuela in over a century. The country sits in a seismic hotspot where the Caribbean Plate and the South American Plate meet.
