Prince Harry’s expected return to the United Kingdom with Meghan Markle and their children has renewed attention on a reunion that many royal watchers believe matters most to King Charles. The visit, which would mark Archie and Lilibet’s first trip to Britain in four years, could give the monarch a long-awaited opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren.
A royal expert believes King Charles is eager to spend quality time with the kids
Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to travel to the UK in July for events marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Royal commentator Dan Wakeford believes the trip could give King Charles III a chance to reconnect with his grandchildren, even if the rest of the royal family does not fully reconcile.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Wakeford said Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, reportedly wants his father, King Charles III, to spend time with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet during the upcoming visit. Wakeford added that, based on conversations with sources close to the situation, a meeting between the King and his grandchildren could happen if the trip goes ahead as planned. “Harry is not going to be meeting William. I cannot see that happening at all. Harry reportedly wants (King) Charles to spend time with Archie and Lilibet, and he’s been pushing for that. And I think that will likely happen from talking to folks in and around this,” Wakeford said.
Reports indicate that King Charles III has already invited Prince Harry and his family to stay at one of his royal estates during their time in Britain. Although Harry has not publicly responded to the offer, the reported invitation has fueled speculation that the King wants to rebuild his relationship with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet after years apart. Charles last saw his grandchildren in person during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, making any future reunion especially significant.
