The Little House on the Prairie actress took to her Instagram to pen a lengthy note while she mourned the death of her co-star Daveigh Chase. She shared a picture of Chase while writing, “ I only worked with Daveigh a couple of days, but I could see she was bright both in countenance and in mind. She was bubbly, sweet and professional. But there was something else there, a push or need to perform …for her parents.”
The cause of death of Chase was mentioned as AIDS and chronic polysubstance use, according to OK Magazine. She also mentioned, “I’m truly heartbroken. I certainly understand substance addiction disorder, but this sweet girl’s death is so much more. If I had the chance to speak to any parents who were thinking about getting their children in the industry, I would tell them to please, please make sure that they are doing it for the right reasons.”
Gilbert’s post comes at a time when her husband faces charges of criminal sexual contact of a child. According to the BBC, the allegations of sexual contact were brought by the child actor who worked with Busfield.
Though Busfield has denied the allegations, he surrendered to the authorities after a warrant was issued last month. Her emotional post sparked a fresh debate online about the realities of child stardom, while her Husband separately faces allegations involving a child.
