Madonna may be ready to revisit one of the most talked-about projects of her career. More than three decades after Sex became a pop culture phenomenon, a new report claims the Queen of Pop is considering a follow-up that would reflect a very different stage of her life.
The rumored project comes as Madonna is launching her next musical era with Confessions II. If the reports are true, the singer appears just as determined to challenge expectations now at 67 as she was in 1992.
Sources say Madonna has contemplated revisiting her landmark 1992 Sex book with a second installment
According to RadarOnline, Madonna has been discussing the possibility of creating a sequel to Sex, the provocative coffee-table book that accompanied her Erotica era and became one of the most controversial celebrity releases of the decade.
An insider claimed the singer views the project as something bigger than nostalgia. “Madonna is on a mission,” the source told RadarOnline. “She’s determined to prove that women don’t stop being sexual, powerful or relevant once they reach their 60s.”
The original Sex book, released in 1992 with photography by Steven Meisel, became an instant commercial success despite stirring controversy over its explicit imagery. According to reports, it sold approximately 1.5 million copies within days of its release and remains the fastest-selling coffee table book of all time. Because it has never received an official reprint, original copies have become sought-after collector’s items, often selling for hundreds, or even thousands of dollars on the resale market.
The reported sequel would also fit neatly into Madonna’s current creative resurgence. The “Material Girl” singer recently surprised fans with a high-energy performance in New York City’s Times Square as part of the promotional rollout for her upcoming album, Confessions II.
Another insider told RadarOnline, “Most stars her age quietly step back. Madonna is doing the exact opposite. She refuses to fade into the background.”
While Madonna has not publicly confirmed that a second Sex book is officially in development, the reported concept reflects themes like pushing boundaries and embracing reinvention that she has explored throughout her career. Whether the rumored project ultimately materializes or not, it’s clear Madonna has little interest in slowing down.
