In an Instagram reel posted July 1, Nara revealed she found out about her daughter’s illness “late last year.” She said, as quoted by People, “When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER, and they didn’t quite know what to make of it. When we took her to our paediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm … My heart dropped in that moment. I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was that she has cancer.”
Nara said that, on the paediatrician’s advice, Lucky took their daughter to the nearest children’s hospital. In the video, the Homemade Cookbook author said that after multiple X-rays, ultrasounds, and a biopsy, doctors informed them that their daughter had cancer, that it had spread, and that she needed to start chemotherapy immediately.
She said many viewers may have noticed she had been posting less, and explained that this was the reason. “Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot, and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging.”
Nara and Lucky have three other children together: Fawnie, 9 months; Rumble, 5; and Slim, 4. Lucky also has a daughter, Gravity, with model Stormi Bree. According to Elle, the pair met during Milan Fashion Week in 2019 while working as models and got married in a small beach ceremony in California in 2020.
