It has been over four months since Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, and no suspect has been identified yet. Daughter Savannah Guthrie says, “It is five months of agony and unending trauma for our family.”
Savannah Guthrie says the search for missing mom Nancy has never stopped
The television journalist, who took a nearly two-month absence from the Today show following her mother’s disappearance and returned to the show on April 6, told KOLD 13 News on July 1, “There is not a moment that goes by that we aren’t actively trying to find our mom. We thank the people of Tucson for holding her in their hearts, as well as both the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office for their tireless work on behalf of our family. Bring her home.”
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told the outlet the investigation remains very active, with new leads continuing to emerge and the evidence still under scrutiny. He said, “Especially when you throw in genealogy – now, you’ve got… this may not be the bad guy, but this person might be the bad guy’s relative three times over. So, that has to be broken down to see if this might be someone of interest to us.”
Nanos also gave a clear chit to the family and said on February 16, as reported by Today, “The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is also cruel. The Guthrie family is a victim, plain and simple.”
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on the night of January 31 after arriving home from dining with family in the Catalina Foothills, Arizona. Surveillance footage from her home showed a masked individual, and authorities discovered her blood at the location. No arrests have been made, and investigators have not reported any new leads. According to the BBC, the family has offered a $1 million reward for information, alongside a $100,000 reward from the FBI.
