Prince Harry’s latest trip to the U.K. is already stirring fresh speculation about the state of his relationship with the royal family. As the Duke of Sussex returns for Invictus Games events, insiders claim Queen Camilla is deliberately staying out of any possible reunion with King Charles.
Harry is expected to arrive in Britain for the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. However, his visit has already been overshadowed by reports that Buckingham Palace withdrew an accommodation offer after he reportedly accepted it, while Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet will not accompany him due to ongoing security concerns.

Despite years of tension within the royal family, some royal experts believe King Charles still hopes to repair his relationship with his younger son. Royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital that Camilla “has been supporting Charles in his ambition to reunite with Harry,” while also continuing to “regularly protect Charles’ interests.”
Still, experts suggest the Queen has no desire to become directly involved. “While Camilla has been a force for stability and is unlikely to block Charles if he really wants to meet with Harry, she’ll be keeping her distance,” royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. She added that Camilla prefers “to avoid complicating matters” and believes any meeting between father and son would likely happen privately because of lingering trust issues.
Harry’s visit has also been complicated by his family’s absence. According to PEOPLE, Meghan Markle and the couple’s children will remain in California after Harry’s security concerns prevented them from traveling together.
The outlet also reported that Harry formally accepted King Charles’ invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace before being told the offer had been withdrawn. A spokesperson for the Duke said, “It is therefore disappointing that the offer has now been withdrawn… It is therefore unclear why, having formally accepted the accommodation offer, it has now been withdrawn at the last moment,” according to PEOPLE.
Harry is expected to spend the week attending Invictus Games events while also awaiting a court ruling involving Associated Newspapers. Although a reunion with King Charles remains possible, most royal commentators agree that Prince William and Kate Middleton are unlikely to be involved, leaving any reconciliation firmly behind closed palace doors.
