Taylor Frankie Paul Breaks Silence on Rehab Stay: ‘I Owe This to Nobody’

Trigger Warning: This article contains a discussion of mental health issues.

Taylor Frankie Paul is sharing her side of her rehab stint and isn’t skimping on the details. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star took to social media to discuss her choice to go to rehab. She shared that she went on her own volition because she wanted to focus on her mental health. She also added that she thought it was wrong for anyone to weaponize her need to reset against her.

Taylor uploaded a series of stories and posts on Instagram on Sunday, July 5. In her earliest story, she wrote “Yes, I seeked (sic) help at a facility,” in the center of the video. “I owe this to nobody, but I like to share my life from my mouth,” she added at the bottom.

In the video, the SLOMW star told everyone she wasn’t posting to “clear up any rumors.” She just wanted to open up about her mental health and her struggles.

“I knew that I was in a spot to take a step back and be like, ‘Okay, we need to reset,’” she explained. “But facilities are not for just substance,” she added. “There are a list of reasons why people go into that. Number one priority was a reset for my mental health.” She likely cleared this up in response to a judge requiring her to take a drug test.

Taylor added that she wanted to decompress and she reiterated that it was her choice to seek help. She also slammed those who “judged her” for doing it.

“It kind of bums me out that it was kind of weaponized against me,” she admitted. “Mental health in private rooms should remain private, and I don’t think everyone should have access to that.” But she added that she was open to sharing her progress with those who needed to know, for the safety of her children and those around her.

All of this comes on the heels of new drama involving her ex-husband Tate Paul, who filed a temporary restraining order against her and petitioned for sole custody of their children. While his motion was denied, it still set off a new wave of drama.

Her other ex, Dakota Mortensen, also ended up contacting the police about his concerns about his own restraining order and custody arrangements.

Alongside her IG Stories, Taylor also posted a series of photos talking about her recent struggles, the cops, and fighting against allegations and against DV. SLOMW castmate Jessi Draper commented on the post, saying, “It’s always darkest before the dawn.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is streaming on Hulu.
