Amanda Batula is sharing new details about the struggles that ended her marriage to Kyle Cooke. The Summer House star says depression, emotional distance, and Kyle’s demanding schedule slowly destroyed their intimacy.
The former couple didn’t hold back during the latest reunion. Both admitted their marriage struggled long before they separated.
Amanda Batula said depression and a lack of emotional intimacy left her feeling like ‘an object’
During Part 2 of the In the City reunion, Amanda and Kyle revisited the bombshell they dropped during the Summer House reunion. They clarified that they had sex only three times after marrying in September 2021.
According to PEOPLE, Amanda said depression played a major role in their lack of intimacy.
“Depression will do that,” she explained. She added that the issue started even before their wedding because the couple had already discussed it in therapy.
Amanda said Kyle gradually stopped making time for their relationship. “I wasn’t getting courted. There were no dates,” she said.
She described a routine that left her feeling disconnected. “He would work all day, work all night, then come to bed, tell me an email, and then try to have sex with me.”
Amanda said the relationship lacked affection outside the bedroom. “There was no foreplay. There was no emotional intimacy. There was no conversation.”
She added, “I felt like I was just an object at that point.”
Kyle acknowledged the marriage had become deeply unhappy. He pointed out that the couple had sex only three times during four years together, and Amanda agreed with that number.
Host Andy Cohen then asked whether Kyle accepted responsibility. “Of course,” he replied before explaining that he organized every date, vacation, and getaway because he focused on building their future.
Amanda disagreed with his reasoning. According to Page Six, she reminded him that his career always came first.
“It takes a toll on our romantic and intimate relationship,” she said. “Your solution was for me to read a book on how to date an entrepreneur, and I wanted you to take me on a date.”
The emotional conversation came months after the former couple announced their split in January. Amanda now dates fellow Summer House star, West Wilson. Kyle previously admitted neither of them met each other’s needs during the marriage.
Their candid reunion exchange showed just how much emotional distance had built between them before they finally decided to go their separate ways.
