Rosie O’Donnell recently sparked excitement among fans of The View after saying she expected to return during the show’s milestone 30th season. However, her representative has now clarified that no official invitation has arrived, leaving her TV return uncertain despite the speculation.

O’Donnell made the comments during a recent appearance on the Tangle podcast. She said she would return for the anniversary season “in whatever way they want me.” She also claimed the show planned to bring back former co-hosts to celebrate its 30th year.
That statement sparked excitement among longtime viewers. Many believed O’Donnell had already accepted an invitation.
However, her representative told Entertainment Weekly that the situation looked very different.
“There was a mention of inviting some of the hosts back to The View as a guest during Season 30,” the representative explained. “There has not been a formal ask from the show at this time.”
The rep also addressed current co-host Ana Navarro’s involvement. According to the statement, Navarro mentioned the idea of O’Donnell appearing as a guest sometime during the anniversary season. Still, nobody finalized those discussions or extended an official invitation.
Although her return remains uncertain, O’Donnell spoke positively about the show’s legacy. She praised Barbara Walters for creating a program that gave women a platform to discuss politics, culture, and current events.
She also reflected on the challenges she faced during her time on the panel.
O’Donnell said several former co-hosts struggled to find stability because producers constantly changed the lineup. She also criticized the show’s leadership during its earlier years. She questioned why a man decided what the panel discussed on a program created for women.
The comedian previously opened up about her departures from the series. She left in 2007 after a widely publicized clash with Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She returned in 2014 but exited the next year again, following disagreements with Whoopi Goldberg.
O’Donnell later admitted that the format no longer suited her. She said she grew tired of defending what she considered basic principles of humanity and kindness during the daily debates.
For now, reports suggest she prepares to temporarily fill in at the Jimmy Kimmel Live desk later this month.
