Bella Thorne opened up about her rumored feud with Shake It Up cast member Zendaya. She recalled their first meeting and relationship when the two were teenagers. Thorne also explained how rumors impacted them back then.

Bella Thorne appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper. She reflected on the rumored feud with Zendaya. Cooper asked her, “Do you remember the first time that you met her and like what was your first impression of each other?”
Thorne responded, “Meeting at the screen test, like the mix and matches and then the screen tests. And I remember at the mix and matches, um, I think I liked her like immediately. I think that our chemistry was the best.”
When they were paired for a screen test, she felt they had good chemistry. She added, “I remember us having to do the dancing and the freestyle, and I was like, ‘Okay, she can dance, and I’m not a dancer.” Okay, I’ve got other things.”
Cooper asked about media portraying Zendaya and Thorne as rivals despite them being presented as a duo.
Thorne said, “People can’t; they don’t want women with women. It’s just nope. We have to we have to make you guys all beg for one spot so that we can have the 80 other million ones. But if you guys can beat each other down and like scrape till the whatever extent we’re asking you to like eat yourselves alive while we have all these spots, but for women just just one just one of you.”
Thorne also shared how intense the media attention became. She recalled sneaking out with Zendaya from the set. She said, “It was my first experience woman-to-woman, girl-to-girl where you actually can speak. You can both be heard about the different things you’ve been experiencing. I think it’s definitely in there in the book still as one of the most genuine, um, girl-on-girl talks, you know.”
Thorne questioned why the media portrayed them as rivals and said that there was no bad blood between the two Disney Channel stars.
