According to an insider, Stewart’s honest comments about the Duchess of Sussex’s career change have “shaken” Markle as she continues to grow her lifestyle brand and media projects.

The comments came shortly after Martha Stewart and Meghan Markle attended the same dinner party in California. Speaking to PEOPLE, the cooking legend revealed, “I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California.” She added that Markle had only recently returned from Britain following a visit with Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. “I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it,” Stewart explained.
During the interview, the 85-year-old was asked about Markle’s move into lifestyle content after the launch of her Netflix series “With Love, Meghan.” The lifestyle entrepreneur said the transition was not as simple as it seemed. “If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show,” she said. “It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”
Stewart repeated similar comments she made in 2025, when she questioned whether Markle had the experience needed to succeed in the lifestyle industry. At the time, she told Yahoo Lifestyle, “Meghan, I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about.” According to a source close to Markle and Harry, Stewart’s remarks carried extra weight because of her long-standing reputation in the lifestyle industry.
“Martha sees the lifestyle world as something you build over decades, not something you jump into because it fits your current image,” the insider claimed to RadarOnline. The source further alleged that Stewart’s public skepticism has left Markle feeling unsettled as she continues to build her lifestyle brand, As Ever, alongside her television projects.
