Travis Barker is remembering a moment with his daughter Alabama Barker from the day of a deadly plane crash nearly 20 years ago. He revealed that just hours before the 2008 plane crash that could have taken his life, his young daughter became emotional and begged him not to leave.

The Blink-182 drummer opened up about the moment during an episode of the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, as seen in a clip on TikTok. Barker said, though Alabama was only a toddler at the time, her reaction was unusual. It’s because she normally did not cry like that.
Barker and his friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein had planned to fly back to Los Angeles after their show on a private jet on September 19, 2008.
However, before the trip, Barker was not even sure if he wanted to go. He remembered asking his manager if he could cancel the performance because he was happy staying home with his children. The 50-year-old singer recalled, “I was just so content with being home with the kiddos.” But his manager told him it was too late to cancel, so Barker went ahead with the trip.
Before leaving, he said goodbye to Alabama. Then, he shared, “She’s like, ‘Dad, don’t go!’ She’s bawling, and she doesn’t usually do that.”
Then she said something that left him confused. “She’s like, ‘The roof’s gonna come off,’ and I’m like, ‘What is she talking about?’” he recalled.
Barker had originally planned to travel home the following day. But after the show, he and the others decided to charter a private jet that night so they could get home sooner. Four more people, including his assistant, bodyguard, the pilot, and co-pilot, joined him and Goldstein on the flight. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff. Barker and Goldstein were the only two people who survived, although both were seriously injured.
Looking back, the musician said there were several things about the flight that made him uncomfortable. However, now, Travis Barker says he would listen to his feelings if he were in the same situation today.
