Rashee Rice called his 30-day jail sentence a “reality check” and “learning experience.” The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver was taken into custody on May 19 for violating his probation after testing positive for THC.

Speaking at the Chiefs’ training camp on August 11, the 26-year-old addressed the matter publicly for the first time since last season. He said, “It was tough. It was mentally tough.” However, he called it a “reality check” and a valuable learning experience, reports Us Weekly.
“They gave me ways to communicate with my teammates and as well as my athletic trainer. Besides the hard times in there, I kept my mind right watching shows and as much Kevin Hart as I could to laugh,” the NFL player added.
Rice served 30 days in a Dallas County jail after he violated his plea agreement related to a multi-car crash. Prosecutors alleged that he drove 119 mph before causing the crash on March 30, 2024, which injured several people. He faced one count of aggravated assault and one count of collision involving serious bodily injury. Prosecutors also charged him with six counts of collision involving injuries. The court ultimately sentenced him to five years of probation.
Talking about it, Rice said at that time, “Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas. There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole.”
Rice served a month in jail before officials released him. He then returned to the Chiefs’ training facility in Kansas City to continue his knee rehab.
Rice drew attention earlier this year when his ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Jones, accused him of domestic abuse. Rice’s attorney, Sean Lindsey, addressed the matter in a February statement. He noted that Jones had signed a sworn affidavit stating that the two had a verbal argument, but that Rice did not punch her.
