Instagram Mocked After New Logo Reveal

Meta’s Instagram has proudly unveiled its first major logo update in a decade, with app head Adam Mosseri sharing the new design on his official account. However, the surprise did not impress many users, as Instagram soon found itself facing trolling and criticism online.

Instagram unveils its first wordmark update in a decade as Adam Mosseri says the redesign aims for a cleaner, more modern look

The American businessman recently unveiled the new logo with the message “time for a refresh,” marking Instagram’s first logo update in a decade. Adam Mosseri shared the revamped design as the platform introduced the change to its iconic branding.

Adam wrote, “The wordmark at the top of the app hasn’t changed in 10 years, so it was time for a refresh.”

“Cleaner and more modern, with references to the original and the simplicity and craft that’s always made it Instagram,” he added further.

As the picture shared by Adam Mosseri clearly shows, the new brand identity centers on the Instagram name itself. The logo uses thick black lettering with a smooth, rounded form. There are no visible gradients, icons, outlines or decorative elements in the design.

The design places the letters closely together, leaving minimal space between each character. This gives the logo a more modern digital and media-oriented feel rather than a traditional technology-company look.

However, the new Instagram logo did not receive the positive response the platform may have expected. Many users appeared unhappy with the change, filling Adam Mosseri’s post with critical and trolling comments.

One user wrote, “Is it just me or It reads : instagzam,” another joined, “ah yes, instagzam.”

One of the users commented, “I’ve never understood why companies feel the need to change their logo.”

“Please don’t update it, no, no,” one user wrote, while another commented, “Noooo pls don’t change.”

While many users mocked the redesign and asked Instagram not to change its logo, some others also praised the platform’s new look.
