Freedom Williams Sued For $30M As C+C Music Factory Feud Turns Ugly

Freedom Williams built his reputation through his music and his association with C+C Music Factory, which played a major role in his rise to fame. Now, the rapper faces a $30 million lawsuit from C+C Music Factory co-founder Robert Clivillés.

Robert Clivillés sued Freedom Williams for defamation, fraud, and trademark infringement

According to Variety’s coverage, C+C Music Factory co-founder Robert Clivillés has filed a $30 million lawsuit against Freedom Williams over a music event held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., along with an ongoing dispute involving the group.

The lawsuit’s main issues are not related to the cancellation of the Trump-related concert. Clivillés alleges that the lawsuit stems primarily from a video Williams posted on social media that contained abusive and offensive remarks.

C+C Music Factory co-founder Robert Clivillés is representing himself in the lawsuit he filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District. Clivillés has accused Williams of defamation, fraud, trademark infringement, unfair competition and breach of contract, among other alleged violations. The lawsuit also seeks $30 million from Williams and asks for the cancellation of his existing trademark.

The 60-year-old rapper recently posted a video that dates back to May 29, 2026, when he originally shared it during the Trump/Freedom concert controversy.

According to the lawsuit, the seven-minute video posted by Williams was used to promote what the suit describes as his fraudulent trademark claims. The Brooklyn-born artist also mentioned Adolf Hitler in the video and repeatedly used insulting and profane language. Clivillés allegedly had no prior warning or knowledge of the statements and did not consent to them.

Freedom Williams joined C+C Music Factory in 1990 after Clivillés and David Cole recruited him as the group’s lead rapper.
