Prince Harry‘s latest visit to the UK has sparked fresh debate about his relationship with King Charles. The Duke of Sussex reportedly hopes to make more frequent trips. However, one royal commentator believes there may be more behind the push for a reconciliation than simply repairing family ties.
Expert believes Prince Harry has an ‘ulterior motive’ with King Charles reunion
During a discussion on TalkTV, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield questioned the motives behind a possible reunion of Prince Harry and King Charles. The conversation followed Harry’s recent visit to Britain with Meghan Markle and their children. Host Kevin O’Sullivan described the trip as “chaotic” and argued it was far from the success Harry reportedly believed it to be.
According to the discussion, Harry now hopes to return to the UK every few months after viewing the visit as a positive step. O’Sullivan disagreed with that assessment, saying the trip was “an absolute catastrophe.”
Schofield pointed to Harry’s previous criticism of the UK. She noted the duke spent years calling Britain unsafe and accusing the country of racism in interviews, including his conversation with the BBC.
“Now he wants to come back every few months,” she said. “It’s amazing how much more appealing the United Kingdom becomes when nobody in Hollywood wants to work with them anymore.” Schofield argued that Harry’s royal status remains his strongest public asset. She said his identity as a member of the Royal Family continues to attract the most attention.
The commentator added that she would support a genuine father-son reconciliation between Prince Harry and King Charles. However, she questioned whether that was Harry’s primary goal. “I think there’s an ulterior motive here,” Schofield said during the discussion.
She claimed Harry may still be pursuing the “half-in, half-out” arrangement he sought after stepping back as a senior working royal in 2020. “You don’t get to repair the family relationship and then immediately turn proximity to the monarchy into a commercial asset,” she said.
Schofield concluded by saying she does not fully trust the idea of a reconciliation because she believes Harry is “looking to commercialize that relationship.” O’Sullivan added that King Charles may simply want to spend time with his grandchildren. He suggested that family could remain the monarch’s main priority if future visits take place.
