Kandi Burruss has weighed in after K. Michelle’s “Mean Girls of Atlanta” remark became a talking point from the RHOA Season 17 reunion. Although Burruss was not on the reunion stage, her name entered the conversation through Shamea Morton. Now, the longtime Real Housewives of Atlanta alum is questioning whether K. Michelle was in a position to make that criticism.
Kandi Burruss questions K. Michelle’s “mean girls” criticism
During a recent appearance on The Big Tigger Morning Show, Burruss was asked directly about K. Michelle’s reunion remark. A clip shared on X captured her response.
“I personally feel that mean girls can’t call other girls mean girls. It doesn’t work like that,” Burruss said. She then pointed to K. Michelle’s past reality TV conflicts and argued that the singer has also gone after people on camera.
Burruss added, “If I’m a mean girl, she was a mean girl, too.” She also made clear that she tends to match the energy people give her rather than look for conflict.
The exchange traces back to the first part of the RHOA Season 17 reunion. Shamea explained that some women in her circle did not want her becoming close to K. Michelle. She referenced Burruss and other women K. Michelle has clashed with. K. Michelle then responded, “The Mean Girls of Atlanta.”
However, K. Michelle did not directly single Burruss out with that label. The comment came immediately after Shamea referenced Burruss and the wider friend group, which explains why Burruss interpreted it as including her.
The tension is notable because K. Michelle previously said she respected Burruss as an established R&B artist. Still, the reunion brought old Atlanta alliances back into the conversation.
Meanwhile, Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion has continued to unpack K. Michelle’s feud with Shamea. Part 2 focused on another off-camera argument between the women.
For now, Kandi Burruss seems less interested in accepting the label than in questioning who gets to use it.
