Jake and Romy Reiner secretly testified before the grand jury targeting Nick Reiner
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Jake and Romy appeared before the grand jury. Nick was subsequently indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents, reports People. The indictment was issued on July 20 and unsealed on August 12.
Nick pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder. He also denied the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder by means of lying in wait. He also faces an allegation that he personally used a knife.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a statement, “This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing. The indictment unsealed today also adds a special circumstance allegation that the defendant committed the murders by means of lying in wait. We hope that by having a grand jury return an indictment in this case, it will bring us one step closer to a trial and achieving justice.”
According to prosecutors, Nick allegedly killed his parents inside their Brentwood home on December 14, 2025. His sister discovered their bodies. Authorities arrested Nick a few hours later near the University of Southern California. He remains jailed without bail at Los Angeles’ Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Nick’s next court appearance is a pretrial hearing scheduled for September 15.
