Prince Harry’s reported return to the UK has raised questions among people close to Prince William about his long-term plans. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield claims some of William’s aides believe Harry and Meghan Markle want to rebuild their ties with the Royal Family while King Charles remains on the throne. She also claimed that financial and inheritance concerns could play a role in their plans.
Prince William’s inner circle believes Prince Harry is returning to the UK for ‘money and inheritance,’ per source
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning to spend more time in Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The couple is expected to keep their Montecito home while setting up a private base in the UK. Their children could also attend school there. According to Kinsey Schofield, the plans have raised questions among people close to Prince William about what Harry and Meghan hope to achieve by living closer to the Royal Family.
“There is a suspicion within Prince William’s orbit that Harry and Meghan understand the clock is ticking,” Schofield told Page Six. She added that they want to restore their proximity and influence around the monarchy while Charles remains King. She also claimed that “money and inheritance are part of the calculation,” although neither Harry nor Meghan has publicly said that financial considerations motivated their reported move.
William remained first in line to the throne, and Schofield argued that his eventual reign could bring a different approach to Harry’s place within the monarchy. “There is a belief that William will be much less accommodating,” she said.
According to Schofield, people in William’s circle believe Harry understands that possibility and may therefore want to rebuild his relationship with the institution before William eventually becomes King. “My sources believe Harry knows that,” she said, adding that they view the reported move as an attempt to “get a foot back in the door” before William has greater authority over the monarchy.
