Prince Harry Hid a Telling UK Return Clue in Plain Sight a Year Ago — Report

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK may have surprised many people, but Harry reportedly hinted at his plans nearly a year ago. In a Remembrance Day essay, the Duke of Sussex described the United States as his current home while making it clear that Britain would always hold a special place in his life.

Prince Harry reportedly hinted at UK return with one word in 2025

On November 11, 2025, Harry wrote a personal essay for Remembrance Day about his military service, his experiences in Ukraine, and his work with military charities, including Scotty’s Little Soldiers and the Invictus Games.

He focused on remembering service members and honoring their sacrifices. Harry also spoke openly about his strong connection to Britain. “Though currently, I may live in the United States, Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for,” he wrote. That single word, “currently,” now stands out in light of the Sussexes’ reported UK move.

At the time, Harry lived in California with Meghan and their two children. His words suggested that he saw his life in America as his situation at the time, not necessarily as a permanent choice. Harry also spoke warmly about British life, mentioning the mess, clubhouse, pub, and stands as things he strongly connects with Britain. “I love it,” he added.

PEOPLE reported on August 19 that Harry and Meghan planned to relocate to Britain for an extended period with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The children are expected to attend school in the UK from September.

The family also arrived in Birmingham on Wednesday, August 26, after traveling from California. The location of their private, non-royal home and the children’s school has been closely guarded. Harry and Meghan will not, however, give up their American life entirely. They plan to keep their Montecito home and their vacation property in Portugal.
