The Sussexes privately traveled from California to Birmingham on August 26 and are reportedly planning an extended stay in Britain. However, an anonymous source told Page Six that Markle’s alleged treatment of job applicants during her previous time in the UK could make some prospective staff reluctant to work for her.

A Page Six report alleges that Meghan Markle’s previous interviewing practices for household staff were considered “extremely rude.” The report suggests that the allegations could make it more difficult for the Duchess of Sussex to recruit staff during her return to the UK.
One insider alleged: “When Meghan was previously living in the UK, the way she interviewed household staff was extremely rude. Applicants would come in to interview for housekeeping or maid positions and were basically forbidden from speaking to her.”
As per the insider, applicants were asked to submit their resumes and wait quietly as Markle read through their CVs. Applicants were reportedly not allowed to engage in a conversation with the Duchess of Sussex or even make eye contact with her.
The source further alleged that the former actress would not ask the applicants any pertinent questions about their work experience or skill set. Instead, she would read the CVs at a leisurely pace, then look up and down the person and simply tell them to leave.
The insider claimed that the alleged encounters damaged Markle’s reputation among prospective household staff. “This happened with enough people that word absolutely got around among household staff,” the source said. “People remember how they were treated, and there are a lot of people who simply would not want to put themselves in that position and work for her now.”
The source further claimed that household staff may now be wary of working for Harry and Meghan following their return to the UK. However, a source close to Markle denied the allegations, saying the Sussexes “have always treated their staff with respect and professionalism.”
