Disney’s first trailer for the live-action remake of Moana is here, and fans are buzzing with excitement. Audiences are all set for an immersive experience with brilliant visuals. Having said that, what’s firing them up even more is the trailer drop, showcasing the oh-so-ripped Dwayne Johnson‘s Maui. While fans are excited about Johnson reprising his character as the demigod, some couldn’t help but point out that he looks comparatively small in the trailer.

Disney fans are super stoked to see Dwayne “The Rock”Johnson reprising his role as Maui in the live-action remake of the hit movie. Catherine Laga’aia will be replacing Auliʻi Cravalho to play the titular role of Moana.
With Moana set to hit theaters on July 10, 2026, the teaser trailer, released on November 17, gave fans a sneak peek of the epic adventure that awaits. The Trailer shared a glimpse of Maui’s shapeshifting abilities and the intimidating Kakamora tribe, generating massive buzz among fans.
Many took to social media to express how no one could have played Maui better than Dwayne Johnson. His undeniable charisma, deep voice, and larger-than-life personality make him a perfect fit for the demigod role.
“The Rock as maui feels like the role finally found its real-world silhouette”, one fan wrote on X.
“First peek at The Rock as Maui… Dwayne’s Maui so jacked, he bench-presses the ocean, Moana’s calling for a tsunami warning!” another concurred.
However, some fans seem to have a funny take on the trailer. The Rock’s height in the trailer caught fans by surprise, and they seemed to have a field day joking about it.
“Why is he so small?” one fan wrote on X.
“He looks like a tan coloured avatar guy,” another funny comment read.
“If it’s the Rock why is he hidden?” another user commented, questioning his size.
Having said that, fans are well aware that it’s the CGI and camera magic that made him look smaller. Dwayne Johnson’s presence continues to be larger than life, although he appears a bit smaller in the trailer.
