Daniel Radcliffe reveals he wrote a letter to Dominic McLaughlin
Daniel Radcliffe has passed the mantle to Dominic McLaughlin, the young actor who is stepping into the iconic titular lead in the upcoming Harry Potter reboot. In a recent interview on Good Morning America, Radcliffe revealed that he had sent a personal letter to McLaughlin.
“I wouldn’t say that anyone who is going to play Harry has to do that [reach out to me], but I know a few people working on the production,” the Radcliffe began. “I wrote to Dominic and sent him a letter, and he sent me a very sweet note back,” the actor stated.
Radcliffe, who has played Harry in the iconic film series from 2001 to 2011, is no stranger to the unique experiences and challenges that come with being the face of a high-profile franchise. The star thus sympathizes with the new generation of young talents who will be on a similar journey.
“I don’t want to be a specter in the life of these children, but I just wanted to write to him to say, ‘I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did — I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time,’” Radcliffe said.
The Tony-winning actor concluded, “I just see these pictures of him and the other kids, and I just want to hug them. They just seem so young. I do look at them and say, ‘Oh, it’s crazy I was doing that at that age.’ But it’s also incredibly sweet, and I hope they’re having a great time.”
The highly anticipated Harry Potter series is expected to be released in 2027 release on HBO and HBO Max. The show stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, along with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, among many others.
