At BravoCon 2025, Karen Huger made her return to the public eye following her 6-month stint behind bars. The crowd erupted in cheers, and the Real Housewives of Potomac star earned a standing ovation. However, Leva Bonaparte from Southern Hospitality wasn’t moved. She doesn’t think we should be celebrating a woman who was convicted of a DUI, and her comments have Bravo fans divided.
Leva Bonaparte said she is “proud” of Karen Huger’s recovery “so the streets can be safer”
Karen’s big moment at BravoCon happened during The Bravos. She glided out on stage, dressed in all white, and the crowd went wild. However, some fans are having trouble processing the positive reaction. On Instagram, two podcasters were discussing whether or not she “deserved” the public praise.
The two podcasters said it “pissed” them off and “bothered” them to see Karen celebrated, considering the fact that she could have hurt someone during her drunken driving incidents. In the comments, Leva added her two cents, agreeing with the hosts.
“Although I thought she was fantastic TV. Nope I didn’t stand for that exact reason,” Leva wrote.
She continued, “We are not standing for this. Proud of the recovery so the streets can be safer. I said what I said!”
The debate raged on in the comments. Plenty of folks agreed with Leva, noting how Karen could have hurt someone by driving under the influence. However, other Bravo fans felt like people were being too harsh on the RHOP star.
“Where is your outrage for Teresa Guidice? Or Luann de Lesepps who has [battery] and public intoxication charges? The list goes on and on but yet you all cherry pick Karen,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “She did her time. Ironically though, isn’t there a convicted felon housewife that takes up space on this platform? Why are we so worried about Karen?”
Either way, Karen is set to return to RHOP during the Season 10 finale, where she’ll sit down with Andy Cohen. Perhaps Leva and the others will change their tune after seeing Karen own up to her addiction.
The Real Housewives of Potomac airs on Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo, and you can stream it the following day on Peacock.
