The women from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives are crashing out online at rates we’ve never seen. Demi Engemann is leading the charge. In her latest explosive post, she called out the show’s production and accused them of staging the Season 1 finale, where they questioned Dakota Mortensen about an affair.
Demi Engemann made some big claims about Secret Lives of Mormon Wives production
As a reminder, Season 1 of SLOMW ended with a cliffhanger that Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex-boyfriend, Dakota, might have cheated. A fan pointed out on Instagram that multiple cast members accused Demi of trying to fake an affair. Supposedly, she wanted to make it seem like she was the other woman in Dakota’s situation.
As that post got traction, Demi slid into the comments (on Thanksgiving, by the way) and said that yes, they did stage the finale. However, she claimed that there was more to the story. It wasn’t her just trying to stage an affair for the fun of it.
“Awkward that I now have to clarify this and reveal just how produced this show is,” Demi began.
“Production sat us down after filming Season 1 asking us for ideas for a ‘big cliffhanger’ because the show was ‘boring,’” she continued.
According to Demi, all the women threw out “a bunch of ideas” for the cliffhanger. Demi said her idea revolved around meeting up with Dakota. She thought the producers could show footage of them talking in a car to insinuate “something might be going on” between them.
“Then at the top of Season 2 it’s cleared up that he was just there to get my advice about Taylor the same way he did with Mayci [Neeley],” Demi said of the botched idea.
According to Demi, it was “not that deep or serious.” She just wanted to participate in the brainstorming activity! Now, she thinks the story is getting blown out of proportion by her castmates. She said it’s an effort to “pile on” while she’s “already down in the public eye.”
“They ALL gave ideas for a cliffhanger, but the way that they relayed this story was as though I just ‘wanted to stage an affair’ out of the blue for fun! No. Not at all what happened, nor would I ever stage anything on my own, unlike some ?,” Demi concluded.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
