IShowSpeed tries to promote products under a minute in new clip
In a recent clip from TikTok, IShowSpeed tried doing the “Speed shop”, where he attempted to promote as many products as possible in a minute. Speed can be seen opening orange-colored boxes one at a time, identifying the product, and then naming it out loud, before quickly moving on to the next one. He successfully promoted 15 items in 1 minute, with an average of 4 seconds per item. One fan attached a still from the clip and replied, saying, “Why is Speed always chaotic?” Another fan wrote, “The Asian girl did it better.”
This technique of promotion first went viral in 2023 when Zheng Xiang Xiang, an influencer on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, went viral for her 3-second promotions. As per reports, at one point, she earned around $18.7 million in just 7 days. This promotional technique seemed to revolutionize online product promotion at the time, with a few other creators across various platforms also attempting the same. However, currently, the trend seems to have died down.
An Instagram post by The Mental Lab shows a clip of Xiang Xiang promoting products as she takes them out of orange boxes, showing them to the camera for around 2 seconds, and then quickly discarding them. Fans took to the comments section to criticize her method, with one fan writing, “She is the symbol of our society. We overconsume and cant concentrate for 5 seconds.” Another fan commented, “How is it promoting if I can’t see the product?”
