Matt Lauer Reportedly Planning Media Return After ‘Inappropriate Sexual Behavior’ Accusations

Matt Lauer isn’t giving up on his media career just yet. The former co-anchor of NBC’s Today saw his career at the network end abruptly in 2017. That’s when reports surfaced that many complaints of “inappropriate sexual behavior” were filed against him.

One of the women who came forward alleged that Matt called her into his office for sex. She reportedly felt helpless and afraid about losing her job if she didn’t. The father of three issued an apology on air after numerous complaints surfaced about him. At the same time he claimed that some of the allegations against him weren’t true.

Nearly a decade later he is hoping to make a media comeback.

Matt may not have many friends in the journalism sector since his dismissal from Today in 2017. However, he’s apparently trying to utilize the ones he still has to help him get back in the industry. Matt “wants to get back into the media arena in some capacity,” a source told People.

He’s reportedly been talking to some of his industry connections to see if he can find a way back. Along with reportedly asking a female staff member for sex, Matt allegedly sent some inappropriate messages to female staff members. The messages were allegedly lewd while including revealing pictures to women, including a young intern.

The allegations not only ended Matt’s career at NBC but also his marriage. He and Annette Roque officially divorced two years after the sexual assault allegations against Matt came out.

Matt was replaced as the Today co-anchor by Hoda Kotb, with the latter leaving the program earlier this year. Last month, though, there were rumors that she’s interested in getting her old job back.

Since his fall from grace, Matt has reportedly been living a quiet life in the Hamptons. Former CNN journalist Don Lemon predicted earlier this year that we’d see Matt back in the news industry. He said the public misses him.
