Dancing with the Stars will almost always get romance rumors thanks to the close nature of ballroom dancing. Partners are often mistaken for doing more than dancing. But according to Dylan Efron, he didn’t notice anything like this in the latest season of the famous dance competition. No romantic chemistry this time around!
Dylan Efron didn’t feel any sizzles of romance on DWTS
Season 34 of DWTS just ended, and Robert Irwin and Witney Carson were just named season champs, much to the delight of viewers. The whole season was mostly feel-good with a hint of drama, of course. But according to Dylan, none of that was from romantic entanglements.
He appeared alongside Boston Rob Mariano on E! Entertainment’s Hot Goss with Eyal Booker and Lonnie Marts. The pair were asked some of their hot takes on reality TV and answered gamely in the sauna.
One question was what was the worst casting decision in reality TV. Rob took that question and said, nobody would know what the worst was because they are “insignificant.” When the question was flipped, and the boys were asked who was the best casting decision, Dylan cheekily answered, “Rob on Traitors?”
“Who on Dancing with the Stars had the most chemistry?” Lonnie asked Dylan.
“I didn’t see any romantic chemistry on set,” Dylan answered. “I know, I know, people are crushed to hear that. But Emma (Slater) and Andy (Richter) had great chemistry. Like, I never saw them upset with each other. They were always supportive. Their chemistry was awesome.”
Dylan was probably on to something. There weren’t many romance rumors swirling this season (except maybe for Robert and former champion Xochitl Gomez, thanks to their adorable performance and her sweet social media tribute to the winner).
In previous seasons, romantic chemistry led to romance rumors and even relationships. Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko denied all rumors but ended up becoming a couple. The same season also saw the coupling of Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber.
Dancing with the Stars is streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
