Ariana Grande plays this Home Alone character in twisted SNL sketch
Ariana Grande enthralls fans by playing Home Alone’s Kevin McCallister in an SNL sketch. Grande donned a blonde wig to transform into the mischievous yet lovable eight-year-old boy whose parents accidentally left him home alone during the holidays. In the twisted SNL sketch, Kevin’s family members fall for his wicked booby traps instead.
In a reimagining of the original film, Kevin’s mother (SNL’s Ashley Padilla) rushes home to meet her son before the rest of the family arrives. Grande’s Kevin wakes up in his parents’ bed and asks, “Mom?” in a perfectly squeaky voice. Padilla wishes her “son” a Merry Christmas and apologizes to him. The rest of the family returns home, indicating that they haven’t left Kevin behind.
Kevin’s sister (portrayed by Sarah Sherman) asks Grande, “So what did you do the whole time you were alone, Kev?” Grande replies casually, “Oh, just hung around,” causing Padilla to break into peals of laughter. Kevin’s father (played by Mikey Day) remarks, “Now, we have plenty of time to hear about Kevin’s little adventures.”
Before Grande can say no, Day opens the coat closet and almost burns his hair on a rigged blowtorch. The rest of the family yells in shock as Day comically winces in pain. The brouhaha continues as another family member slips on some small toy cars left on the floor and cracks his head open on the corner of a piano.
Sherman tries to extinguish the fire but instead ends up spraying kerosene, causing the fire to ignite further. The chaos continues when a young man steps into a string that activates a nail gun, which shoots several nails at his face.
Meanwhile, Sherman slips on marbles and lands straight down into a flaming furnace, where she is reduced to ashes. Kevin’s brother Buzz (played by Colin Jost) lets loose an active chainsaw that chops off Bowen Yang’s arms, splashing blood on Grande and Padilla’s faces. That leaves Grande covering her blood-covered cheeks with her hands, just like the iconic Home Alone shot.
The disaster continues with more casualties and ends with another surprising twist.
