Hit MTV Reality Show Returns for Landmark 18th Season Tonight

As rumors swirl online that MTV is going off the air for good, RuPaul’s Drag Race is here to remind you that the channel itself isn’t going anywhere — at least not yet.

Season 18 of the Emmy-award-winning reality show returns to MTV tonight, bringing a brand-new batch of queens into the Werk Room for their shot at becoming America’s Next Drag Superstar. Keep on reading for all of the deets about what to expect and how you can stream it.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 18 has arrived

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 18, Episode 1 “You Can’t Keep a Good Drag Queen Down!” drops tonight on MTV at 8/7c. They’re kicking things off with a major celebrity guest judge, Cardi B! It’s especially fitting, considering her latest album was inspired by a moment from Drag Race.

We already got a sneak peek of the first ten minutes of the premiere, showing the “Kris Jenner of drag” arriving at the Werk Room to find all of the lights have been mysteriously shut off. Tune in to see if they ever find that light switch.

Meanwhile, Drag Race is practically keeping the lights on at MTV. Headlines have been floating around for months that the channel would be shutting down its operations. While it’s true that their music channels are being retired, the main station still delivers hit reality shows. MTV has hits like The Challenge and Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. They acquired Drag Race in Season 15 from its sister station, VH1, fully rounding out its reality TV offerings.

If you don’t have cable, don’t worry. There are still plenty of options to watch the Drag Race Season 18 premiere on MTV. YouTube and Hulu both offer live TV packages. Plus, there are a few reasonably-priced options from live TV apps like Fubo and Philo. Many of these also come with free trials for new subscribers.

So, whether you’re streaming it through one of the apps or if you still have a satellite dish on your roof, you’ve got options for tonight’s premiere. You can just sit back and watch the queen strut their stuff.

RuPaul’s Drag Race airs on Fridays at 8/7c on MTV, with RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked following immediately after.
