Fans can expect Roman Reigns’ highly anticipated return to WWE sooner than expected. Fans consider the 40-year-old as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world. Notably, WWE signed him in 2010, and since then, he has performed on the Raw brand on a part-time basis. He has been off WWE television for months, but it seems he could be making a comeback soon.
Roman Reigns’ WWE return reportedly spoiled
It seems like Roman Reigns’ WWE hiatus could end sooner than expected, as fans tap into a crucial clue regarding his return. Fans were surprised to see Reigns’ name appear on routine TV listings. Notably, WWE has not relayed any official information to fans regarding the celebrated wrestler’s much-awaited return (via Newsweek).
This incident sparked a discussion on Wrestling Observer Radio, where Dave Meltzer alerted fellow WWE fans regarding a suspicious description tied to an upcoming episode of SmackDown.
According to Meltzer, the TV listing was supposed to provide generic information regarding the upcoming WWE contest. However, instead, it allegedly spoiled Reigns’ grand comeback. Meltzer revealed, “I saw…okay, so on what’s it called…this little scroll. Scroll for SmackDown, because it said, ‘How Maxxine Dupri tries to recover from her loss to Becky Lynch’ and ‘Roman Reigns returns.’”
Fans realized that the TV descriptions seemed like a jumbled mix of different wrestling contests. Fans believe that WWE probably sent out an internal or placeholder summary instead of the final, correct version.
Meltzer deems this a genuine mistake on WWE’s part and not some cheeky marketing tactic. He explained, “That’s the thing that WWE sent to the TV Guide people, they sent it for SmackDown. So somebody just screwed up.”
Furthermore, fans are aware that WWE is very particular about and tight-lipped regarding major storylines to prevent any kind of spoilers. There is a whole system wherein WWE distributes TV listings far in advance and shares them across multiple platforms.
Although TV listings did not specify any date regarding Reigns’ much-anticipated return, Meltzer suspects “it could be the week after.”
