A legendary Spanish singer is speaking out against the recent allegations against him. Julio Iglesias has been accused of sexual assault by two former employees. They allege the Spaniard’s inappropriate behavior occurred for 10 months at the singer’s home in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas.
The rights group Women’s Link Worldwide filed the complaint on behalf of the two women regarding the alleged incident, which reportedly took place in 2021. The prosecutor’s office in Spain’s High Court is reviewing the complaint against the father of Enrique Iglesias. Julio is now sharing his side of the story.
Julio Iglesias denies the allegations of sexual assault against him
One of the biggest names in the history of Spanish music is denying the allegations against him. On his Instagram page, Julio shared his thoughts on the matter. In his native Spanish, he stated that he has never “abused, coerced or disrespected any woman.” He calls the accusations “completely false.” The Me Va, Me Va singer says it makes him incredibly sad to learn of the accusations he’s facing.
Julio is a national treasure in Spain, having sold over 300 million records in 12 languages. The huge hitmaker achieved local success in the 1970s before gaining worldwide fame the following decade.
This complaint was reportedly given to prosecutors last week. Enrique is one of eight children the Spanish icon has from his two marriages.
Before his massively successful music career, Julio alternated between playing professional football and studying law. He was previously a goalkeeper for Real Madrid Castilla in the Spanish second division. A serious automobile accident ended his athletic career, opening the door for him to become a singer.
He’s released over 30 albums as a singer, earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1985.
